This year, the 32th the IMPC, International Mineral Processing Congress 2026 will take place from October 18-22, 2026 in Cap Town (South Africa). Come to discover CASPEO’s sampling, data reconciliation, simulation and metallurgical accounting solutions are empowering a future-fit mineral processing industry.

IMPC 2026: empowering a future-fit mineral processing industry

The International Mineral Processing Congress is the most prestigious event in the field of mineral processing in the world today. The theme of the 2026 edition conference is inspired by the strength and resilience of the African rhinoceros to empower and adapt to future trends and challenges in the mineral processing industry. IMPC 2026 will be hosted by the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM).

CASPEO at the International Mineral Processing Congress 2026, booth #31

Visit the CASPEO team at booth 31 in the IMPC exhibition.

We bring +20 years of experience in process engineering for mineral processing and extractive metallurgy plants. Our approach combines software and consulting across the full data chain: sampling, data reconciliation, process simulation, flowsheet optimization, and metallurgical accounting.

At booth 31, you can:

    • See live demonstrations of INVENTEO (metal accounting), BILCO (data reconciliation), USIM PAC (process simulation), ECHANT (sampling error calculation)
    • Learn about our consulting services in sampling audits, process optimization, and metallurgical accounting
    • Discuss your process challenges with our engineers
    • Pick up free trial codes for BILCO and ECHANT

Two papers at the IMPC involve our USIM PAC mineral processing simulation software

  • Monday 19 October – 2:50 pm: Using automated mineralogy data in process simulation with USIM PAC

Two ores can have the same copper grade and still behave differently in flotation, because their mineralogy is different. Automated mineralogy systems such as the Mineral Liberation Analyzer (MLA) measure this mineralogy particle by particle. Feeding these data into a simulation is harder than it looks. The samples are small, and the output format was not designed for process models.

Julien Guidihoumme, PhD student at INP-Toulouse, developed a method with BRGM and CASPEO that couples bootstrap resampling of MLA data with Monte Carlo simulation of particle size distributions. Both sources of uncertainty are propagated through USIM PAC.

Florent Bourgeois, professor at INP-Toulouse, presents Julien’s work during the IMPC 2026.

  • Parallel Session 1: Ore Body and Minerology
  • Venue: 2.45-2.46
  • Tuesday 20 October – 2:25 pm: Design of lithium ore processing in the frame of zero-waste mining

This paper presents how was used to analyze and reconcile data from a pilot plant campaign conducted on ore from the Beauvoir lithium deposit within the European EXCEED project. By combining material balance calculations and data reconciliation in USIM PAC, the study transformed extensive but inconsistent sampling data into a coherent and reliable dataset, enabling a more accurate evaluation of metallurgical performance. The work also highlights the challenges of pilot-scale testing and proposes practical improvements to enhance sampling representativeness and process data quality.

Stéphane Brochot, CASPEO’s Co-managing Director, presents this work lead by CASPEO and the University of Lorraine – ENSG Nancy during the IMPC 2026.
